Doctor Gibson, once told me this tip to get started. I don’t really know if it’s a tip, since it’s very simple. Mr. Gibson writes thousands of references himself and he always does this to begin. It’s no magic. The tip is – just do it. Seriously. Sit with a paper and a pen and write everything that comes to your mind. Don’t edit. Just write. Remember, its’ a draft.
That’s the way you write most of the stuff. Then, edit your ideas and brush them up. Do anything. But that’s how you go about it.

Struggling to begin writing the reference? No ideas where to begin? Well, we have an idea. Reportedly, this is an absolute killer-tip. The thing is, it works not for everyone. For example, for me, it doesn’t. But I heard about a lot of people who can create a whole reference just from doing this simple action.
Regardless, you should try it. Expect it to work. If it doesn’t, well, you can choose something else. But the killer tip is…
Picture the applicant in his job. Then, describe exactly what he is doing. For every action he is doing, describe every skill he needs to do it. Then strike through the skills that everyone has (i.e. the ones that are just too simple to learn) and put everything that is left into your reference.
Now, your reference should be ready to go. It’s a good tip. Try it. This will make you learn how to write a reference.
